July 31, Park City, UT SCANDALOUS!!! As you are probably already aware, the future of the International Rollerski Series has been in jeopardy the past few weeks because of the temper tantrum thrown by the IRS Race Committee over their perceived under-appreciation. It all started when this article was published in the local paper, The Park Record. The Race Committee, who have devoted their pathetic little lives to the IRS, were very bitter that they were not mentioned in the article. In retaliation, they refused to write a Race Report for the second race, and filed this priceless little gem instead. Upon seeing the Committee's report, Erik Stange quickly stepped in to defend himself. His rebuttal can be viewed here. Finally, after a week of peace talks at Camp David, we have a working agreement that will allow the race series to continue, temporarily. The Race Committee agreed to go back to work if they could just get a small mention in the newspaper. For anything. Erik Stange agreed to wash the bibs for the next race if all charges against him would be dropped and his "hurricane" status was reduced to a tropical storm. The Race Committee was appeased when race founder, Cory Smith was mentioned in the Park Record a week later, by the same reporter, in a different article. Upon seeing this, the Race Committee dragged most of Stange's possessions out of the river behind their house and began to dry them off, while Stange got out the detergent. The final part of the Camp David IRS Accord was that the ultimate fate of the IRS be left up to the fans. The following question was put to you to find a resolution.
So Stange had better get out the vacuum. And now we can all get back to the races, where Smith is preparing to take out the broom, as he has swept the first three races and looks forward to number four. . . |
