Dec. 4 - Dec 20 Canada & Spokane, WA
This trip ended up being a total disaster. I had to skip the Canadian races due to financial concerns. I knew I could only afford to do one leg of the trip and since Spokane would be cheaper and I have raced well there the past two years, I chose to make just a weekend trip to Spokane. Well, both races in Spokane were cancelled because of extremely cold weather. There was an impromptu mass start 5k classic race on Saturday, but it didn't count for anything. The cancellations were legitimate - it was at least minus 10 degrees farenheit and very windy on both days - but I can't help but be frustrated and angry. So far this season I have travelled to 4 YOKO/Continental Cup F.I.S. races (two in Alaska and two in Washington) and they have ALL been essentially cancelled. I have NO F.I.S. points to show for all the money I have spent so far this winter. It is especially frustrating because I think I am skiing well and might have been able to move up in the point standings at those races.
